If a trip to California isn't in the cards this Golden Week, Osaka is bringing a little slice of Los Angeles to Kansai instead.

The new LA FOOD & CULTURE FEST will take over Sennan Long Park for two days in early May, offering visitors a seaside festival inspired by the food, fashion, sports, and laid-back lifestyle of LA's West Coast culture. Set against the palm trees and ocean views of Osaka Bay, the waterfront venue was chosen for its beachside atmosphere, with organizers saying the location is meant to evoke the feel of Los Angeles itself.

The free-entry event will feature a wide range of attractions designed to recreate the LA experience, including authentic Los Angeles-style food stalls, basketball and skateboarding activity zones, West Coast lifestyle exhibits, and a bazaar selling vintage clothing, outdoor goods, and secondhand fashion.

Live entertainment is also planned throughout the festival, with dance performances and live painting adding to the California-inspired atmosphere.

One major draw for sports fans will be the sale of Los Angeles-exclusive merchandise related to Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani. According to organizers, the lineup will include imported items that are typically difficult to purchase in Japan, making it a particularly tempting stop for Ohtani collectors.

With around 15,000 attendees expected across the two-day event, LA FOOD & CULTURE FEST looks set to be one of Golden Week's more unique outings for anyone wanting beach vibes, American eats, and a dose of Dodgers fandom without leaving Japan.
