Nishiyama Park
Nishiyama Park was built in 1856 by the Seventh Lord of Sabae Han (feudal area), who established this park not for his family or subjects, but for the general public in Sabae. The park boasts 47,000 azalea flowers and is one of Japan's 100 historic parks. From the cherry blossom in spring to the azaleas in early summer to the sea of colorful leaves in autumn, every season is beautiful here in the park. The Azalea Festival and the Momiji Festival attract visitors from near and far. From the observation deck of Nishiyama Park, visitors can even see as far as the Hakusan Mountains. There is also a small zoo that shows monkeys, red pandas and birds.
