Amidst all the fridge magnets, novelty snacks, and endless rows of flavored Kit Kats, many travelers visiting Japan also enjoy bringing home something a little more substantial. Quality clothing and footwear can make for a great souvenir, particularly when it comes from a Japanese brand with a strong connection to design and craftsmanship.

For visitors passing through Nagoya, there's a new place to shop from August 7, when Onitsuka Tiger opens a major new flagship store right in front of Nagoya Station.

The two-storey store will be the second-largest Onitsuka Tiger store in Japan, behind the brand's huge global flagship in Shinjuku, which opened in July. Its location also makes it particularly convenient for travelers, with Nagoya Station serving as a major gateway to the wider Tokai and Chubu regions.

What's particularly appealing for shoppers is the range. The store will carry the brand's full collection, including Heritage products such as NIPPON MADE and ITALIAN MADE footwear, contemporary collections presented at Milan Fashion Week, and THE ONITSUKA's more formal footwear. It will be the first time this complete range has been available in the Nagoya area.

The store itself is also designed to be part of the experience. Its interiors draw inspiration from Nagoya's combination of cultural sophistication and industrial character, with terrazzo, steel, marble, and Japanese-inspired lighting used across the two floors. The first floor has an open, fluid feel, while the second offers a quieter and more immersive shopping environment.

For travelers looking for a souvenir that goes beyond the usual snacks and trinkets, this could be an interesting stop. A pair of Onitsuka Tiger shoes or another piece from the collection offers something practical to take home, while also showcasing a distinctly Japanese brand.
